Behind the Lens: My Journey into the World of Photography

Today we are delighted to introduce Kristina (K.Artistic), a passionate photographer whose path into the world of photography has been anything but ordinary. Although she holds a degree in marketing and has spent fifteen years building her career in that field, her love for photography has always remained constant. In this conversation, she shares her story, the depth of her passion for this art form, and her commitment to exploring social and human themes through her work.

Kristina, how did you discover your passion for photography after completing your marketing degree?

Kristina: Photography has always been my first love. Even though I studied marketing, my heart has always belonged to photography. Through this art form, I found a way to express my creativity and bring unique ideas to life. Every time I pick up the camera, new inspirations emerge and a deep desire to keep exploring grows within me.

What inspires and drives your work, especially when it comes to social themes?

Kristina: My inspiration comes from what I value most – people and food. I also love exploring social and emotional topics. Projects such as Identity Fusion and Unspoken Messages are especially meaningful to me, and I am very proud of them. Identity Fusion delves into the complex layers of human nature through a captivating interplay of identities. This portrait series celebrates the beauty of contrasts, revealing how different facets of a person coexist in harmony. Each human being carries within them many layers, like rooms filled with tenderness and strength, vulnerability and determination. These portraits invite us to reflect on those inner rooms and the intricate connections that shape who we are.

Unspoken Messages was born from the need to support those who carry hidden emotions and unspoken thoughts. Through this project, I invited people to share their inner monologues anonymously, which I later transformed into visual narratives through photography. It highlights the importance of listening, empathy and understanding, especially in relation to feelings that often remain unexpressed.

What does your creative process in the studio look like?

Kristina: My studio is my sanctuary, a place of calm where I feel completely at ease. It is where my most intimate and powerful images take shape. In that quiet atmosphere, every detail finds its rhythm, and each photograph is crafted with full attention and care.

Your work is diverse, and you divide your time between Switzerland (Zug) and Serbia (Belgrade). How do these environments shape your creativity?

Kristina: I live and work between Switzerland and Serbia, and I feel fortunate to draw inspiration from both worlds. Each place influences my perspective in a unique way and challenges me to see life through different lenses. This constant change of environment fuels my creativity, bringing new ideas, emotions, and visual languages into my work.

Thank you, Kristina, for sharing your story and creative vision with us. Your dedication to exploring human depth through photography is truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing how your work continues to touch hearts and provoke thought.
