THE FIVE SEASONS BY POLTRONA

Updated: Aug 3

Frau With its 2025 collection The Five Seasons, Poltrona Frau turns its attention to the way space influences daily life. The concept is rooted in the Japanese philosophy of go ai, which brings together design, nature and inner balance. The result is a series of carefully shaped pieces, created to fit seamlessly into life without the need for dramatics.

To celebrate sixty years of the Dezza model, the brand has introduced a limited series of sixty pieces, upholstered in Pelle Frau leather and adorned with an original illustration by Gio Ponti. This drawing had never been used in production before, giving the edition a uniquely distinguished character. Each piece is handmade and individually numbered.

The collection also includes a collaboration with the Fornasetti atelier. Two historic models, the 1919 armchair and the Isidoro bar cabinet, are reimagined with the iconic Ultime Notizie motif, a hallmark of the Milanese studio. The interplay of leather, wood, and fine print grounds them in everyday spaces while preserving their symbolic strength.

One of the standout new designs is the Blisscape sofa by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba. Its shape is straightforward and adaptable, with generous cushions, hidden mechanisms, and a flat platform wrapped in leather. It is meant for unwinding, though not in the usual sense. Its form invites a sense of stillness rather than movement.

The collection also features modular versions of the Parka sofa, a refreshed GranTorino and the brand’s first wardrobe system, the DressCove Night System. Instead of side panels, DressCove uses a central support structure, complemented by illuminated shelves, drawers, and leather accents. The solution is technically precise and visually understated.

The Fidelio multimedia cabinet, developed in collaboration with the Leica team, is made of ash wood and finished in leather. Inside, it houses a dedicated space for the Cine 1 projector, along with a motorised panel and integrated technical components. The design does not conceal the technology but incorporates it as an equal part of the whole.

The materials in the collection have been chosen with care and developed in line with sustainable principles. The new Pelle Frau Soulful leather is treated using the Impact Less method, giving it a more pronounced texture and natural finish. Three new textile collections and seven colors have been introduced to complement the overall tone of the series.

Presented under the name Beautilities, additional pieces for everyday use include lamps, bags, desk accessories, and games, created in collaboration with a variety of designers. Each object reflects the spirit of the collection, with the same level of craftsmanship and visual clarity.

The Five Seasons is a collection guided by consistency. Every piece belongs to a thoughtful system where function, material, and aesthetics meet without explanation. In that quiet, something enduring takes shape.
